Biography
Watt and Shead, Heads, 121: Herbert was a monk of Selkirk when he was elected to be abbot of Kelso in 1119. He moved with his community from Selkirk to Kelso by 17 July 1127 and was consecrated as bishop of Glasgow on 24 August 1147. Watt and Murray, Fasti, 188: Herbert was abbot of Kelso when he was elected bishop of Glasgow in 1147, after 3 May and before 24 August, on which date he was consecrated by Pope Eugene III at Auxerre in France. He died in 1164, before 20 September.
