Herbert, king's chamberlain

Biography
Barrow, RRS, i, 30: Herbert was the chamberlain of David I from around 1136, and was probably 'chief' chamberlain from 1153 until around 1159. He was a layman and held the barony of Kinneil. He had one daughter who married Hugh Giffard of Yester and at least two sons, William and Stephen. Herbert was probably dead by 31 January 1161.
