Patrick (III), earl of Dunbar (d.1289)

Biography
Patrick (III) was the son of Patrick (II) (d. 1248) and his wife Euphemia, daughter of Walter fitz Alan. Upon his father's death at the siege of Damietta, Egypt, in 1248, Patrick succeeded as sixth earl of Dunbar. He was married to Cecilia, daughter of John - perhaps a member of the Fraser family - and had three sons with her. He died in 1289, aged in his seventies, and was succeeded by his son, Patrick (IV), with the 'blak beard' (1242-1308). In F. Watson, 'Patrick Dunbar, eighth earl of Dunbar or of March, and earl of Moray (d.1369)', ODNB, xvii, 211; [http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/8206]
