Christian of Strathearn, master, earl's clerk

Biography
Watt, Graduates, 522: Christian or Cristin was of unknown origins, but he was a brother of Gilbert, archdeacon of Dunblane. He appears with his surname only when away from a Dunblane context. He was master by April 1227. He held the church of Monzie (PER), which is his only known benefice. He is first found witnessing with his brother a charter by Robert, heir of Gilbert, earl of Strathearn, dating 1220×23. He is later found in the service of Malcolm, earl of Fife (d.1229) as a clerk. He does not appear to have belonged to the familia of Bishop Clement of Dunblane or to the chapter of Dunblane. He died after 7 April 1239.
