John, earl of Huntingdon and Chester (d.1237)

Biography
Son of Earl David, knighted on 20 May 1227 Nicknamed ‘le Scot’ (Scottus). John was knighted, with many other young men, by Alexander II at Roxburgh castle in 1227. He succeeded to his uncle’s earldom of Chester in 1231, and in the interim had married Helen, daughter of Llewellyn, king of Wales. (Chron. Mel.)
