Description
King Alexander II for Melrose Abbey; has given that abbot and convent of Melrose they may possess forever all their lands between Gala and Leader Waters, and confirms all their other lands on south bank of Tweed (i.e. Eildon and Darnick in Melrose) adjoining lands of Lessuden (St Boswells, ROX) and those of monks of Kelso Abbey. Henceforth they may erect buildings and do whatever else is thought beneficial within said lands; to be held in free alms outside the forest. He shall warrant the land against all men.
