Reginald, chaplain, declared under oath that on 25 December the oblations of the church of Haddington were valued at 2 marks, at Assumption 1 mark, at Easter 36s., in Quadragesima 18 marks, in obventions of the year 10 marks, from the chapel of ‘Garmelt’ (?Garleton) 7s., from the chapel of Drem and of ‘Hepprige’ (?Ettrick), not collected, on the day of Purification 2 stones of wax, on Sundays 4s. 4d., from three altars 3s., in hay half a mark, in curtilage 1 mark. Sum: 36 marks 10s and 10d.; Thomas, chaplain, declared under oath, on Easter 37s., on 25 December 2 marks, at Assumption 14s., in Quadragesima 18 marks, in curtilage 1 marks, in all obventions of the year 13 marks, on Purification 1 mark, from three altars 4s., from three chapels 32s., from hay half a mark, on Sundays 13s. Sum: 42 marks, 10s. 10d.; Alexander, chaplain, declared under oath on 25 December 19s. 10d, on Easter 2 marks, Assumption 14s., Quadragesima 17 marks 5s., in all obventions of the year 12 marks, in curtilage 1 mark, Purification 1 mark, from three altars 3s, from three chapels 2 marks 6d., from hay, not collected, from taverns outside the burgh 32d., on Sundays 13s. Sum: 40 marks 4s.; Hugh, chaplain, declared under oath that the same year he held at ferme the yearly portion of William, the deceased vicar; valued at 46 marks. John, clerk, declared under oath that he did not know how to classify portions, but he declared that a portion of the vicarage, according to his estimate, was valued at 40 marks. Ralph, clerk, declared under oath that all portions of the vicarage were valued at 40 marks 4s., excepting altars and chapels. Thomas, clerk, declared under oath that that year which he held that portion at ferme, it was valued at 46 marks. Master William declared under oath that he himself lends [money] and thus he accepted that portion, that is, for 40 marks. Sir Herbert, chaplain, declared that all those portions having been calculated, he was able to value [them] at 40 marks.
