Biography
Handbook of British Chronology, 513: Duncan was the son of Morgund, earl of Mar (d.a.1183) and succeeded or was recognised to succeed to the earldom between 15 May 1222 and 29 August 1228. He may have succeeded at some point after the death of Gilchrist (after 28 September 1203). He died between 8 April 1242 and 7 February 1244, the latter date marking the first appearance of his son, William.
