- Watt and Murray, Fasti, 240, 244: Richard occurs as 'R[ ], dean of Ancrum', October 1214×October 1221. He occurs as persona of Ancrum and dean of Teviotdale 1208×1225, probably c.1223, and as dean of Teviotdale 13 December 1225 and 1227. By 31 January 1231, the church of Ancrum was held by someone else. He appears as official of Glasgow in '1226'.
Watt, Graduates, 9: (as Alncrum), Richard probably took his surname from his parsonage. Though not credited with an academic title, he held office as Glasgow official in 1226-7. By 1200×02, he was holding the church of Ancrum. After 13 June 1204, he became a dean of Christianity. He was a papal judge-delegate in 1225. He died after 1227-28. He may have been the same person as Richard of Elwood, canon of Glasgow, or Richard of Braid (Brade).
