Margery, countess of Buchan (d.c.1244)

Biography
Margery or Margaret was the daughter and heiress of Fergus, earl of Buchan (d.×1214). In 1212, she married William Comyn (d.1233) and from them are descended the Comyn earls of Buchan. William and Marjory had three sons - Alexander (d.1289), William and Fergus - and three daughters: Idonea, who married Gilbert Hay, Agnes, who married Philip Meldrum, and Elizabeth, who married William, earl of Mar. From William's first wife are descended the Comyn lords of Badenoch. Margery died around 1244, at which point the earldom passed to her eldest son, Alexander. (Young, The Comyns, 14-30; J.
