Document 5/0/0 (Stevenson, Docs., ii, no. 528)
- Description
- John de St John writes to his friend Sir Ralph of Manton, noting that since he has been grieved by sickness that he could not travel so as to be at Roxburgh Wednesday after the feast of St Bartholomew, as appointed, he prays Ralph that, along with Sir John de Seagrave, John’s cousin, and Sir William de Latimer, to whom he has written, and with Sir Richard Siward, whom he has sent to Ralph, Ralph would be John’s representative to do whatever he could if he were there himself. He also prays him for Sir Richard Siward, John’s cousin, that Ralph would help him to obtain what the lord king owes him, so that he may be paid what is due to him at Roxburgh. He has great need, as well for his house at Tibbers, which he has begun to make, as for other matters.
