Document 1/50/6 (Stevenson, Docs., i, no. 27)
- Description
- W[illiam] and R[obert], bishops of St Andrews and Glasgow, Duncan, earl of Fife, Alexander Comyn, earl of Buchan, constable and justiciar of Scotia, John [Comyn] and James Stewart of Scotland, Guardians of the realm of Scotland, elected by the community of the same, write to Sir Edmund, earl of Cornwall, Guardian of the realm of England, their friend in Christ. Because the lord king of England granted to the executors of the will of their lord, the late king of Scotland, free administration of all the goods and rights in the realm of England, and [because] the advowson of the church of Knaresdale, belonging with the ward and marriage of John Prat, son and heir of the late Bertram Prat, [was] sold to John Wishart of the Carse, they pray that the king consider giving letters of instruction to the baillies of Tynedale, who, as they understand, are burdened by the said advowson and presume to bother Sir John Wishart, that they may permit free presentation of the same to him.
