- Bernard, abbot of Arbroath, and the convent of the same place, by the unanimous consent and assent of their whole chapter, have given and granted by the present [charter] to John del Cragis all their land of 'Douenaldston' (KCD), with its pertinents, for the whole time of his life, save to the monks the regality in the land, for his faithful service, council and labour [which is to be] furnished and presented to them, their monastery, and now too, their men, as fully contained in John’s charter of obligations. Additionally, the monks wish that John may have one distinguished robe from the suit [secta] of abbot’s armourers, whomever they may be at the time, and this is to be received annually at the birthday of Saint [ ].
