- Description
- Brother Bernard, abbot of Arbroath, and the convent of the same place, by unanimous consent, have granted to Alexander Fraser, son of the late Sir Andrew Fraser, the knight, for his faithful counsel, aid and, which is to be devoted to them and their monastery in posterity, and for the right which he had or he was able to have to the annual pension rendered from Conveth (KCD) that was supplied to him by lord John, former abbot of Arbroath, and the convent of the same place, all his land of Torry (ABD), with its just pertinents and burdens, for the whole time of his life, just as the monks’ predecessors and tenants held the land with its freedoms; however, Arbroath reserves the teinds of their church of Nigg (ABD) and the state of the same church in everything, and they reserve their land of Torry after the death of Alexander, with the buildings not constructed in it and constructed by him and his men. And if any papal teinds or other extraordinary burdens may be imposed by the pope or the clergy relating to the land of Torry, Alexander will not be held responsible to answer concerning these.
