King William narrates that when in his full court and in his presence he gave again the land of Bangour (in Ecclesmachan, WLO) to Uhtred of Bangour, as his right and heritage, Uhtred recognised that he had no nearer heir than Earl Malcolm of Fife, and presented him to the king as his heir and put him in sasine of his heritage; wherefore the king now grants this land to Earl Malcolm in feu and heritage, for the rent belonging to it, that is, 4 chalders of oatmeal, 4 marks, 4 swine and 8s.
