Document 4/19/6 (Pais. Reg., 161-2)
- Description
- In the presence of Sir Walter, son of Alan, steward of Scotland, justiciar, and Sir Maldoven, earl of Lennox, and other, this peace and concord was made between Paisley Abbey and Sir Malcolm, son of the earl of Lennox, over the lands of Cochno, Faifley, and Edinbarnet, which the monks possess in the name of the church of (Old) Kilpatrick (DNB) and which Malcolm claimed against them. The abbot and convent shall give to Malcolm 60 marks, of which 7 marks and 40s. were placed in his hand, in which Malcolm held them, and through the assignation of the same Malcolm to Sir Walter, son of Alan, 52 marks and 10s. were paid. For this money, Malcolm set up to pay 8 marks with all the service of the land of Auchincloich, which Adam son of Edulf held by the charter of the earl of Lennox, and he quitclaimed all claims which he had in those lands, and he will give the abbot and convent, in free and perpetual alms, his confirmation of those lands which they hold and possess in the earldom of Lennox. For the observation of this, Malcolm gave his faith in the hand of the said abbot of Paisley and set up the pledges Sir Walter, son of Alan, steward of Scotland, and Maldoven, earl of Lennox, the latter who appended his seal.
