Pope Clement IV writes to O[tto], cardinal deacon of S. Adrian, papal legate, noting that he has enjoined H., king of England, that he may have the tenth part of all ecclesiastical rents in Scotland, which he now commands Otto to collect, with the consent of the king of Scotland. He further commands that this be applied to the debts of the queen of England. If the said king of Scots withholds his consent, from the tenth of ecclesiastical rents in England, recently granted by the apostolic see, 60,000 livres tours is to be applied to the queen’s necessities.
