Pope Alexander III commands the bishop and canons of Glasgow to endeavour to pay the teinds of the churches which they have in their parishes. The bishop should promulgate, with Alexander’s and his own authority, a sentence of excommunication against those who remain contumacious and rebellious in a greater degree, and a sentence of interdict against the others. Richard de Moreville, Alan, son of Walter, and others from whom the detainers of teinds acquire lands and pastures, should be prohibited, under threat of anathema both from the pope and the bishop, from offering such support.

Dating Notes
