Document 3/15/19 (Melr. Lib., no. 56)
- Description
- Earl Patrick for Melrose Abbey; has granted donation which his grandfather made to same church, and which his father established, of Hartside (ELO) and Spott (ELO), with common pasture of moor for 3 flocks of sheep, and with easements of the moor. He has also given to them in same moor 5 acres of land on south side of Mossy Rig Burn, so that they can enclose it to make a sheepfold for the 3 flocks. So that there may not be any further dispute in future, it should be known that each flock should not number more than 500 wedders, so that there are 1500 sheep. He also notifies that he has granted any right that he or his men had or may have had in that meadow which monks hold of knight Alan son of Walter, steward of king, in feu of Innerwick (ELO), under ‘Brun Rig’, for which they have a charter from Alan.
