King Alexander II wills and instructs that woods of monks of Coldingham, that is, Greenwood, and all of woods of and wastes of Reston, Brockholeswood, Aikieside, 'Chirchedeneswde', 'Harewde', 'Denewde', Swinwood and Houndwood (all BWK) shall be under protection and custody of prior and monks with right of warren in woods and throughout their land by ancient marches named, as charters of Kings David and William, his father, bear witness and establish.
