Description
David, king of Scots, has given his special beloved and faithful Archibald Douglas, knight, for his diligent work and thankworthy service efficaciously and effectually made, all the king's lands of Galloway, that is, between the Cree and the Nith (KCB), the pacification of which Archibald conducted personally at his own expense; holding in feu and heritage, in one free and integral barony, with tenancies and services of freeholders, with advowsons of churches, with bondsmen and bondages, neyfs and their offspring, with pit and gallows, sake and soke, toll and team and infangenthef; as freely as Edward Bruce his beloved uncle held them; rendering annually one white rose annually at the king's castle of Dumfries on the feast of St Peter ad vincula as blanchferme, for wards, reliefs, marriages, and suits of court.
