Description
David, king of Scots, noting the king's revocation at his parliament held at Scone on 26 October, and that land given to his relative Robert Erskine knight and Christiana of Keith his spouse was subject to this revocation, and that through the mature deliberation of his council at his more recent parliament held at Scone, has given, granted and newly confirmed to Robert and Christiana his spouse, for Robert's homage and service, his lands of Alloa and Gaberston (CLA) together with the island called the Island of Clackmannan and with a piece of his park of Clackmannan next to the land of Gaberston, that is, west of the water of Little Devon, within the sheriffdom of Clackmannan, in exchange or compensation for the lands of Strath Gartney and of his new park beside Stirling; and all of his land of 'Brenhalgh' in the forest of Clackmannan together with the herbage of that forest in exchange for the land of the old park of next to Stirling given to the king and by staff and baton resigned. Due to the service and labours of his relative, the king also gives them heritably his lands of Ferryton and the king's meadow of Clackmannan and a piece of his park of Clackmannan on the east of the Water of Little Devon; holding by Robert and Christiana and their heirs procreated between them, failing them, by Robert's heirs; in feu and heritage, in one integral free barony, with bondsmen and bondages, neyfs and their offspring, with pit and gallows, sake and soke, toll and team and infangenthef, for the service of one half of one knight and three suits of court annually at his three chief pleas at the sheriffdom court of Clackmannan. And they shall be free and quit of wards, reliefs, and marriages from the aforesaid lands.
