Description
David, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful William, earl of Sutherland, for his homage and service, half the thanage of Formartine (ABD), which he now has, and which another has granted him for his lifetime; holding by William and his lawfully procreated male heirs, in feu and heritage, in free barony, with tenancies and services of freeholders, with bondsmen and bondages, neyfs and their offspring, with pit and gallows, sake and soke, toll and team, and infangenthef; making four suits at the sheriff court of Aberdeen at the four chief pleas. And he expressly wills that the earl's heirs shall be held to ward and relief of him and his heirs in perpetuity.
