Description
David, king of Scots, has given Blessed Mary and Saint Katherine the virgin and martyr and one chaplain celebrating mass in the parish church of Edinburgh at the altar of St Katherine for the soul of Roger Hogg, burgess of Edinburgh, and for the soul of Margaret his spouse, and for the soul of all their ancestors and successors, and for the souls of the whole community of Edinburgh, all the land of Upper Merchiston in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh (MLO) which was William More knight's and which William resigned by staff and baton in the presence of the magnates of the realm; holding in pure and perpetual alms. The presentation to the altar of St Katherine will belong to Roger Hogg for his lifetime, and to the aldermen of the burgh of Edinburgh thereafter in perpetuity. He firmly prohibits his justiciars, sheriffs, greives of burghs and their baillies and the coroners and other officers to interfere with the said land.
