Document 1/54/80 (RRS, vi, no. 77)

Description
David, king of Scots, understands truthfully from certain evidence and grasps that Malise, recently earl of Strathearn, gave the earl of Warenne, the king's English enemy, his whole earldom of Strathearn, and because the said earl is forfeited, he has given Maurice Murray, knight, his beloved relative, the whole earldom of Strathearn, to be held by him and his legitimate male heirs in feu and heritage, as freely as Malise held it, making the service owed and wont of an earldom. If Maurice has no legitimate male heirs it shall revert to the crown.
