- David, king of Scots, notes that Lord Robert, king of Scots, his father, infefted Thomas Charteris (de Carnoto ) in the lordship (superiority) of the land of Uras (KCD), with the annual rent of 10 marks from the said land, which was forfeited by John, earl of Buchan, to his father (King Robert) due to his rebellion and hostility, of which two thirds had been resigned by Hugh, earl of Ross, to his father by staff and baton, and all right of his in the tenement of Uras quitclaimed; and the third part of the rent was granted hereditarily by his father to Thomas Chartres, and all of which rent and lordship (superiority) had been previously granted hereditarily by his father (King Robert) to the same Thomas, as evidenced by his charter, and after the aforesaid Thomas resigned by staff and baton in the presence of the magnates of the realm at Clackmannan. King David II has given his beloved and faithful William of Irvine the whole integral lordship of the land of Uras with the aforesaid rent of 10 marks from that land; having and holding in feu and heritage, free from all secular service, exaction and demand.
