John, bishop of Whithorn (d.1209)

Biography
Watt and Murray, Fasti, 168: John was elected bishop of Galloway before 3 September 1189 and was consecrated at Pipewell, Northamptonshire, on 17 September 1189. He was said to have resigned in 1206 to become an Augustinian canon of Holyrood Abbey, but Chron. Melrose notes that he died in 1209 still a bishop (pg. 54).
