Ferguson, Medieval Papal Reps., 57-60: Alexis was a Roman sub-dean who arrived in Scotland in 1180 as a papal legate with John 'the Scot', bishop of St Andrews, who was returning from Rome. Alexis was present when John was consecrated on 15 June 1180 at Holyrood Abbey, but fled sometime after the consecration with John and Matthew, bishop of Aberdeen. He went to Normandy soon after. His legation ended before April 1181.
