Robert of Holy Island, bishop of Durham (d.1283)
- Biography
- Robert of Holy Island (Robert de Insula) was a monk of Durham and was sacrist between 1265 and 1269. By 1272, he was prior of Finchale. He was elected to the see of Durham on 24 September 1274 and was consecrated on 9 December at York. He died at Bishop Middleham on 7 June 1283 and was buried in the cathedral chapter house on 10 June.
