William Abernethy (II), knight (d. 1346)
- Biography
- Son of Wiliam (I) Abernethy, from whom he inherited Saltoun (ELO). He swore fealty to Edward I in 1296 but that Christmas was in the company of John Stewart and Walter and James Lindsay, who were allied with Robert Bruce, James Stewart and William Douglas in rebellion. William set his seal to the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320, and died in 1346, probably at the battle of Neville's Cross.
