Description
Robert, king of Scots, for the honour of God and the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints and for the decoration of the church of Saint Mary in subsidy of the fabric of the newly constructed monastic church of Melrose, gives Melrose abbey all the wards, reliefs, marriages, escheats, fines, amercements of his justiciar and sheriff courts falling with in the sheriffdom of Roxburgh, from the day of the production of this letter until they reach the sum of 2000 pounds. James lord of Douglas is appointed superauditor of receipts and expenses and to enforce payment.
