- Robert, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful William the barber (or William Barbour) the east part of Philiphaugh (SLK) and of 'le Schelgrene' in the sheriffdom of Selkirk, in feu and heritage, with mills and multures, provided that he pay only a firlot of grain for each chalder, or, at his choice, pay the miller his sustenance for the day), with common pasture of the vill of Selkirk (SLK), rendering annually 6d. on Martinmas; he also has granted the office of constable of Selkirk (SLK), with all that pertained to that office on the day that King Alexander III died.
