- Alexander, king of Scots, makes it known that since the time of his ancestors, any religious or other person travelling through country with carts was allowed to remain and pasture his animals in any feu for one night, as he has understood from instruments and charters of his ancestors; he wishes this custom and common law to be observed, and forbids that any harm, injury or obstruction be caused to monks of Melrose, or any other religious, in defiance of this custom and common law
