Document 5/1/0 (CDS, v, no. 130)
- Description
- A writ was sent to the sheriff of Northumberland ordering him to summon, John, king of Scotland, to appear on this date, to answer Simon, heir of John of Restalrig. Simon has complained to King Edward that King John did not do him justice in his suit with Patrick de Graham concerning the alienation of certain lands in the barony of Restalrig, while they were in King John’s ward owing to the idiocy of John of Restalrig. The sheriff reported that he delivered the summons to King John at Lanark on 9 February before John Comyn, Alexander de Balliol, Hugh de Eure and Walter of Cambo. Both King John and Simon appeared on the day appointed, but because King Edward was hindered by other difficult business the hearing was postponed to the next Easter parliament.
