Description
Inquisition before Sir Archibald of Livingston, sheriff of Stirling, on 22 February in the king’s 32nd year, as to the lands of the late Sir John of Callander, by Thomas son of Michael, Adam, son of Brice, Philip Colan, Geoffrey of Falkirk, Simon Vygot, Colin Croky, Finlay son of Maurice, Donald son of Ruairi, Michael son of Hugh, Maurice Forester, Adam Gordon, Adam le Joen, Thomas Long and Gilbert of Falkirk, who say on oath that Sir John held Callander in chief of the king, doing the service of one knight; the land is worth yearly in time of peace £40 and now £8 6s. 8d. He also held the land of Kilsyth in chief of the earl of Fife, doing the service of 10 archers; it is worth yearly in time of peace £60 and at present £12. They say Alwin, son of the said Sir John is his nearest heir and is 28 years of age.
