- Inquisition at Lanark the xx... day of January [20×29 Jan. 1303], by twelve free liege men, that is, ...shym, Hugh of Galbraith, Walter de Twydi, Richard English, Patrick of Auchinleck, William Scott, David [...], Walter Soytr, William son of Peter, John Croynyan, John son of Thomas, David son of Laurence, Adam son of Gilchrist, who say on oath that Sir John 'of' Bard (Baird) held in Elemston in the barony of Strathaven (LAN), of Sir Nicholas of Biggar and his heirs, which land is in the hand of Sir John of Seagrave, and is worth yearly £12 15s. 6d.; of which sum the mother of Sir John 'of' (sic) Bard (Baird) claims and has her terce. The land owes the service of half a knight. The aforesaid [sic] Alexander is son and heir of said John, who died on St Hilary’s day in the king’s 31st year.
