Document 1/27/0 (Stevenson, Docs., ii, no. 633)
- Description
- The king writes to Sir Alexander of Abernethy noting that he has carefully read his letters to him, by which Alexander informs the king how he is remaining to watch the fords upon the river Forth. He orders him to employ all his pains therein, and to find William Bisset, the king’s sheriff of Clackmannan, to assist the said watch, if necessary. It is the king’s wish that he not leave the country where he is until he has sent further news. In reply to the matter wherein he has asked the king to let him know whether it is the king’s pleasure that he should hold out to William Wallace any words of peace, the king states that it is not his pleasure by any means that either to him or to any other of his company, Alexander should hold out any word of peace.
