Brian son of Alan has received at Rededhal (Redhall Castle, MLO) eighty pounds of sterling by the hand of John of Cramond and Adam of Rye, on behalf of Sir Alexander de Balliol, chamberlain of Scotland and Master Robert [Heron] [who was made] an associate to [Alexander] by the lord king of England, as part of the payment of his wages for the custody of the castles of Roxburgh and Jedburgh.
