John Rabuk and John of Mar, bailies of the burgh of Linlithgow, Andrew the sergeand, William O' the Hill, John Porter, Matthew of Kinglass, Henry of Wrae, Philip of Abernethy, Gilbert of ‘Hildeclive’, William son of Arnold, Michael Lardner, Nicholas the sergeand, burgesses, and the whole community of the said burgh; Adam Gold, bailie of the burgh of Montrose, Walter of Rossie, John of Thornton, John son of Alan, Hugh son of Malcolm, Thomas Cuffock, Philip of Logie, John Trot, Henry of ‘Hakely’, Walter Mercer, John son of Adam, William Strong, burgesses, and the community of the burgh of Montrose; having come into the allegiance and obedience of their lord, the lord Edward, king of England etc., promise for themselves and their heirs, upon pain of body and possessions, that they will serve him well and loyally against all men, etc.; they have sworn this on the holy gospels; each of them has performed fealty to their lord, the king of England.
