- Description
- Pope Nicholas IV commands the bishop of Aberdeen, the abbot of Scone and the prior of St Andrews, to compel Robert, bishop of Ross, to make full satisfaction to the dean and chapter in regard to the benefices, teinds, lands and rents belonging to the chapter and their vicars, which he has applied to his own uses, destroying their houses and sequestrating their prebends, benefices, and taking their other property, seizing the goods of rectors and perpetual vicars on their death, and the first fruits and the lands and share of fines allotted for the fabric of Ross cathedral, depriving vicars, conferring two vicarages in the cathedral on one person, extorting illegal procurations, performing service in the church after his entry was forbidden, granting church possessions and goods to his kinsmen and friends, without consent of the chapter.
