Document 2/7/92 (Glas. Reg., no. 242)

Description
Robert, bishop of Glasgow addresses the dean of Christianity of Lanark stating that the rectory of the church of Walston (LAN), through the resignation of Master William of Wiston, the late rector of the church, has been conveyed to the dean and chapter of Glasgow. Hence, the bishop firmly mandates the dean of Christianity to receive Sir John of Bothwell the chaplain, procurator of the dean and chapter, into the said rectory, and the dean should establish him and bring him into corporal possession of the same and should defend the inducted [chaplain] against opposition and rebels [who are] to be restrained by ecclesiastical censure. And the bishop states the dean of Christianity should append the seal of his office to the present [charter].
