Description
Pope Boniface VIII, addresses the abbot and convent of Melrose Abbey and states that in support of their church, and in consideration of the promises of his beloved son, Robert of the Holy Trinity of Pudentiana, the cardinal priest, he bestows, to them, by the authority of the present charter, that no one may presume to extract or extort teinds or first-fruits from them, their cultivated lands, or whatever else, according to certain specified terms. The pope decrees that if anyone goes against the aforesaid, he should come to incur the indignation of God and the apostles Peter and Paul.
