Michael of Monifieth, lord of the apdaine of the same, and his heirs state that they are to be held in account and firmly obligated in relation to the six shillings and eight pennies of good and legal sterling [which is owed] to the abbot of Arbroath, whomever he may be at the time, and the convent of the same place, for the toft and croft which Michael holds at feu-ferme in the territory of the apdaine of Monifieth (ANG). The money is be rendered to the monks at two times of year, viz. half at the feast of Pentecost and the other half at the feast of Saint Martin in winter. And Michael is to render at the feast of the nativity of the blessed Mary the virgin, one half boll of mustard-seed grain. And if it may happen that, God forbid, Michael or his heirs fail to comply, consequences are specified.
