In the same year [1296], Indiction [9th], month [June], day [19th] and place [Stirling], with the same witnesses being present as last aforementioned, and in the presence of the Notary written below, together with the aforesaid Earl Malise, and Walter of Corrie, the lord Michael of Wemyss, knight, freely attained the trust and good will of the king of England, and annulled any alliances, contracts, agreements, or pacts ever entered into in his name with the king of the French against the king of England, and expressly renounced them; and having touched and kissed the most holy gospels, he performed fealty to the said king of England, and in respect of his fealty, he drew up his letters sealed with his true pendant seal.
