- Description
- Adam son of Roger son of Eadmund Spoth, in the king’s court at Roxburgh, in front of Sir David (III) of Lindsey, then justiciar of Lothian, restored by rod and staff, and quitclaimed to Ralph of Bunkle all right and claim that he had in two ploughgates of land in the territory of Bunkle (BWK), whom he impleaded by precept of the lord king of Scotland, and of Sir David of Lindsey, justiciar of Lothian, in the county of Berwick. Neither he nor his heirs may reclaim the two ploughgates, for a certain sum of money which Ralph paid him in his great need. Adam has sworn while touching the holy gospels, subjecting himself to the jurisdiction of the lord bishops of St Andrews, Glasgow and Dunkeld.
