Roger de St Michael has given and granted and made firm by this his charter to Arbroath Abbey, for the welfare of his lord William king of Scotland and of the lady queen (Ermengarde) and of his lord Alexander, their son, Mundurno (in Old Machar, ABD), by its right bounds and with all its just pertinents, holding in free and pure and perpetual alms. He acquits the land in perpetuity from all service and aid and custom and secular exaction.
