Description: Duncan of Swanston and Mariota his spouse, for the welfare of Sir Alexander, king of Scotland, and of Lady Joan, the queen, and their heirs, and for the souls of the lord King William and others, have given, granted, and by this their charter established to Soutra Hospital in pure and perpetual alms, in their territory of Swanston (MLO), 23 acres with toft and croft which Adam the smith held, by stated bounds, holding free and quit from all secular service, custom, exaction and demand.
