Document 3/523/7 (Pais. Reg., 49-50)
- Description
- Gilbert son of Henry de St Martin has ratified the donation and grant that Henry his father made to Paisley Abbey by agreement and approval of him and his heir, and other of his friends, of the two ploughgates in Penuld (Fulton, RNF) that Walter son of Alan, Henry's lord and his, gave to Henry for his service. He grants the aforesaid land to the monks, and by this his present charter makes it firm to them, free and absolute from all trouble from him and his heirs in perpetuity, with all the liberties that the charter of the lord Walter bestowed to his father and his father's charter granted to the monks; and he has declared on oath that neither he nor any of his heirs should be able to revise this his charter in any way, in the presence of Robert Crock, his son Alan, Ralph and Luke the chaplains, Ralph Russell, Matthew his son, Brennild, and many sworn men, and before others, having touched holy objects, has sworn that neither he nor any of his heirs shall make any claiming back against this present grant and confirmation of the aforesaid land in perpetuity.
