Godfrey son of Thomas of Tynedale, in the full court of the lords at Forfar in the presence of the justiciar of Scotia Sir Alan Durward, William of Brechin, and Robert de Muhaut then sheriff, has quitclaimed and restored by rod and staff for defect of service which he was not able to perform, to Sir Hugh Giffard all right that he had to the land of ‘Balbohelyn’ [prob. Balbeuchley] in the feu of Tealing (ANG), which land William Giffard, Hugh’s ancestor, gave to Godfrey’s ancestors, and he has restored all charters for the said land to Hugh, renouncing all writings, charters, tailzies, etc, which may be found in the future.
