Walter of Kilham son of Robert of Scotton has given and made firm by this his charter to Melrose Abbey eight acres of arable land in the territory of Kilham (Northumberland) just as the charter of his father testifies, in free, pure and perpetual alms, for the soul of Walter Espec and for the salvation of the soul of his lord Robert de Ros and his father and himself, and for the soul of Amabilla, his mother, and all his relatives, by stated bounds. He and his heirs will warrant to the monks the said land against all men and will acquit them of forensic and all terrestrial service and custom and exaction in perpetuity.
